Mighty David

Mighty has always loved to run, especially with his late brother, another rescued dog, named Bear Wild Carr. One cold winter day in the middle of no-where Arkansas, Mighty and Bear ran ahead of Dr. Kacey and Bethany on one of their regular excursions. Despite the frigid air, they followed their noses through the frozen landscape. It was so cold that even the deep irrigation creek running between the cotton fields was covered with layer of ice. Both dogs ran across the creek, spurred on by one another's energy. Mighty reached the other side first and kept running, focused on a sent he had caught. When Bear was halfway across the creek, however, the ice gave way and his back end crashed into the icy water. Dr. Kacey and Bethany could hear the high-pitched, panicked bark. It was a desperate cry and they realized Bear was stuck, unable to pull himself out of the ice. Taking off in a full sprint, Dr. Kacey was preparing to rescue Bear once again. Just as Dr. Kacey was about to plunge into the creek, Mighty flew by, throwing himself into the water. He, too, had heard Bear's cries. With heroic force, Mighty began using his powerful front paws to break up the ice surrounding Bear so that they could both make it safely to the steep bank of the creek. He had saved his brother! It was not the only time Mighty came to Bear's rescue. But it was a glimpse at the intelligent, selfless, loyal, and brave heart that beat within him. Mighty David, has lived up to his name. He is a protector and rescuer. Without hesitation, he would undoubtedly lay down his life for his tribe.
